Bereavement Support

At Creightons Funeral Service we know how difficult it can be to cope with everyday life in the time following the death of a loved one. We feel it is part of our responsibility to look after our community, that’s why we offer guidance and support to families in their times of bereavement.

In association with Mal & Di McKissock, Australia’s best known and internationally acclaimed bereavement counsellors, and founders of the Bereavement C.A.R.E. Centre, we conduct regular community Loss & Grief seminars in an effort to help those who have lost loved ones and their supporters.

Adults & Grief

Bereavement Support - Adults & Grief

Grief is a natural response to the loss of someone or something we value. We are probably most familiar with and most affected by grief that follows the death of a significant person in out lives. Death related loss is called bereavement, grief is the internal response we experience and mourning is our grieving behaviour that can be observed by others.

The passionate intensity of grief associated with the death of someone we love can seem initially concerning. We may long to have relief from pain and wonder how long we can endure a response that affects every part of our being – mind, body and spirit. We may experience physical symptoms such as shortness of breath, palpitations, sighing, burning or butterflies in the stomach, difficulty sleeping, memory loss, loss of appetite and a feeling of extreme tiredness.

For more information on overcoming grief, as well as a list of useful contacts to assist you in finding further bereavement counselling, please download a copy of our “Coping with Grief in Adult Life” brochure by clicking on the below link.

Children & Grief

Bereavement Support - Children & Grief

Children are often the forgotten mourners when a family experiences the death of one of its members. The language of their grief is not always easy to see or hear and is frequently misunderstood. For this reason, they may not receive the attention they need to help them learn to live with the pain of loss.

Please click on the link below to download our “Life Lines – Helping Children Cope with Death” brochure. It is written to help parents and others involved in the care of grieving children understand their needs and know where to turn for additional help.
